One thing nobody tells new gardeners…

Why didn’t anybody tell me I could get free soil and free mulch from my local community? I’m over here trying to grow food to save money, and people are literally giving this stuff away for free.

I found this mulch through Facebook Marketplace, but there are other resources too, like local tree companies and services like ChipDrop.

Now, I did buy one bag of mulch from Home Depot, but the bag was torn, so I got it half off. If a bag of mulch, soil, or other garden material is damaged, ask if they’ll discount it.

As a new gardener, I’m learning that there are a lot of ways to save money if you know where to look. So before you spend a bunch of money on gardening supplies, check your local community first. You might be surprised by what people are giving away.
