A friend once watched how I experience the world and said, "I couldn't live like that." This video is my answer.
What is a Highly Sensitive Person? The word "sensitive" gets a bad rap, and most people picture something that has nothing to do with the actual trait. High sensitivity is a nervous system that filters out less, so more of the world gets through. The color of the sky, the emotion in a song, the mood of the person across the table.
I walk through the four characteristics Dr. Elaine Aron identified when she first named the trait in the 90s: deep processing, overstimulation, empathy and emotional awareness, and sensory sensitivity. I share what overwhelm actually does to an HSP, and what it looks like when an HSP is also a High Sensation Seeker.
If you've always felt things more intensely than the people around you, this video may put language to it. And if someone you love is an HSP, this is what their world looks like from the inside.
I'll be breaking down each part of the HSP framework in upcoming videos. Subscribe if you want to go deeper.
