The Mkhwebane Foundation has formally asked the FBI, the Department of Justice, and the US Treasury to investigate the Phala Phala money. The submission was filed on 19 May 2026. No acknowledgement has been received from any US agency.
In this video we work through whether the legal argument holds up, why the named buyer being a Sudanese national makes the American jurisdiction claim even weaker than it looks, and why the same approach by the DA in 2022 produced nothing.
We also look at what these submissions are actually designed to accomplish, and the one question that the SARB finding the government keeps pointing to does not actually answer.
