Today's U.S. Treasury sanctions — OFAC designation sb0465 — documented Turkish companies serving as financial intermediaries for Iran's ballistic missile propellant procurement network. Cotton linters. Nitrocellulose. Solid rocket fuel. For the missiles hitting U.S. facilities and Israeli cities throughout this war. The same sanctions round designated Mahan Air and its subsidiary Saman Air Services for running an air weapons bridge delivering Iranian drones and weapons to Venezuela. The country running the financial plumbing for all of this is Turkey — a NATO member hosting approximately 50 U.S. B61 nuclear weapons at Incirlik Air Base, whose cities have had Iranian ballistic missiles shot down over them by NATO air defenses this year. Some analysts are now asking whether NATO can survive contradictions this severe. The sanctions may be a sign that Washington has decided it can no longer look away.
