National Treasury earlier briefed the media in Pretoria, following its temporary withholding of funds to selected municipalities.
It has flagged 69 municipalities across the country for persistent and serious non-compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act. National Treasury says the aim of its action is to ensure fiscal discipline among local authorities.
The Buffalo City Metro in the Eastern Cape is one of the affected municipalities.
