The FBI announced on Monday that Ibrahim Khaldoon Hilmi, who is accused of helping orchestrate a massive 3.7-billion-dollar Medicare fraud scheme, has been returned to the United States after being tracked down in Turkey. According to the FBI, Hilmi fled the United States in May 2025. He was recently detained by Turkish authorities following an international manhunt. The FBI's Critical Incident Response Group then traveled to Turkey and transported Hilmi back to the United States on Friday through a foreign transfer of custody operation.
