The combined cost of the stalled Kejetia Phase Two project and the Takoradi Market Circle redevelopment has risen to over €305 million due to mounting suspension claims.

This was disclosed by Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, who attributed the escalating costs and delays to unpaid interim payment certificates and contractor demobilisation in 2024.

The affected projects include the Kumasi Central Market Phase Two (Kejetia) and the Takoradi Market Circle redevelopment, both of which remain key commercial infrastructure projects.

The Minister says government is working to resolve outstanding issues, re-engage contractors, and fast-track completion to restore trading activities and reduce economic losses.
