The San Ramon City Council joins communities throughout California in recognizing April 2026 as Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month. San Ramon Councilmember Sridhar Verose introduces the Proclamation.

Brother Ibrahim Bello (from the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center's Youth Committee) speaks on behalf of the San Ramon-area Muslim community group.

SRVIC offers religious, social and educational teachings to the local Muslim community, enabling it to be a positive contributor to society.

San Ramon Councilmember Marisol Rubio introduces the Proclamation on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at San Ramon City Council Chambers. San Ramon Mayor Mark Armstrong, Vice Mayor Sridhar Verose, Councilmember Robert Jweinat, and Councilmember Richard Adler also comment on the Proclamation.

The Proclamation acknowledges the rich history and guiding virtues of American Muslims, and commends Muslim communities in California for the lasting positive impact they have made, and continue to make, toward the advancement of the state and the nation.

The Proclamation recognizes the SRVIC as fulfilling the spiritual and cultural needs of San Ramon-area residents and promoting interfaith cooperation by providing an environment for dialogue, education, and fellowship. The full text of the proclamation is below.

The San Ramon City Council follows in the steps of other City Councils in the San Francisco Bay Area, like Pleasanton, Dublin, Santa Clara, Union City, Oakland, San Jose, and Redwood City.
