Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warmly received Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman during his official visit to Malaysia, describing the visit as an important milestone in bilateral relations. Speaking at a joint press conference, Anwar said he was honoured that Malaysia was the first country chosen by Tarique Rahman for an official visit after assuming office.

The Malaysian leader reflected on his longstanding relationship with the Rahman family and praised Tarique Rahman's political resilience and commitment to democratic values. Anwar also recalled Malaysia's early recognition of Bangladesh after its independence and reaffirmed the strong historical ties between the two countries.
The leaders discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, manpower recruitment, and economic development. Both sides expressed interest in pursuing a fast-track free trade agreement to further strengthen economic relations.
