Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was in Malaysia Thursday to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya. The main topic of discussions revolved around energy security and the impact of the ongoing Middle East tensions, especially the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Many Asian countries rely heavily on energy and related products form the Persian Gulf. The recent rise in gas prices has cost these countries severely. Albanese told local media in Putrajaya that there will also be consequences to Australia's energy after a massive fire broke out at the Geelong refinery in the state of Victoria overnight.

Australia relies heavily on imported refined fuels - primarily from countries like Singapore, South Korea and Malaysia. Albanese is on a tour of southeast Asian nations, including Brunei and Singapore.
