The late legendary jazz artist and activist, Abdullah Ibrahim used his music as a vessel to ensure that history is not distorted.

The 92 -year-old music maestro passed away on Monday, leaving his music lovers saddened by the news but remembered the musical giant that he was.

He was the heartbeat of jazz has a heartbeat and used music as a weapon against apartheid and to tell the truth when politics tried burying it.

One of his popular songs "Mannenberg" pays homage to his place of birth, District 6.
