The leader of the Burkinabe junta, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, handed over 776 construction vehicles to the Faso Mêbo Agency on Monday, May 4, 2026, to establish four brigades in the Tannounyan, Djôrô, Nando, and Nakambé regions. The Faso Mêbo Agency is responsible for Burkina Faso’s infrastructure development, housing, and urban beautification. During the ceremony, Traoré said, “I am handing over the keys to these various machines. You will use them to reinforce and accelerate the highway works. But above all, so that the users can have control over their machines.” To the governors of the four regions attending the event, Traoré urged, “I expect you [governors] to mobilize the people above all.… If they get involved in the road construction, they certainly won’t damage [it].” The equipment includes graders, bulldozers, hydraulic excavators, compactors, semi-trailers, pickup trucks, asphalt and crushing plants, crane trucks, and tankers. The goal is to speed up the construction of safe highways that connect the various regions of the country.
