AI for Architects — How I Actually Use It (2026)

AI is changing architecture fast — but how useful is it on real projects?
In this video I show how I actually use AI as an architect on real architectural projects that actually get built. No list of 20 pointless apps, no complicated “prompt engineering” — just the AI tools and methods that genuinely help me with architectural design.
I mainly use ChatGPT, although the same methods can be used with other AI tools, whether you’re experimenting with free AI for architecture or more advanced paid tools.

I show how I use AI for design critique and second opinions, concept development, architectural design options, material palettes, details, architectural render and visualizations, as well as finishing and manipulating images using Photoshop for architects.
One of the biggest game changers for me is using AI to generate multiple design options quickly. Architecture is about testing ideas, comparing alternatives and then using experience to decide what is actually appropriate, buildable and worth developing.

I also show how I use AI for architecture renders and presentation images — starting with my own sketches, Revit models, CAD drawings or existing renders and using AI for design creation, visualization and finishing touches. AI can help with architecture and interior design ideas, materials, people, landscaping and presentation, but it still starts with an actual design.
And there are limits. AI images are not construction information. I still use Revit, CAD, Photoshop and traditional architectural software to develop real buildings, drawings and details. I also look at using ChatGPT for architectural standards and regulations — an area where AI can be useful but where you absolutely need to check the information yourself.
This isn’t about finding the best AI tools for architects. It’s about understanding where AI genuinely saves time, where it improves the architectural design process, and where it still gets things completely wrong.
AI for architects and designers is developing incredibly quickly — but for now, I see it as a tool for the architect, not a replacement for one.
