India is heading into a challenging May as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns of an above-normal number of heatwave days across several regions, including the Himalayan foothills, eastern coastal states, Gujarat and Maharashtra. While some areas may receive above-normal rainfall at 110% of the long-period average, heat is still expected to dominate large parts of the country.
