Now, Togo is leading an ambitious diplomatic charge at the United Nations to get the world map fixed. Backed by the 55 member states of the African Union, Togo's Foreign Minister Robert Dussey is calling for the global adoption of the Equal Earth Map, a projection that accurately reflects Africa’s massive scale. This isn't just about cartography; it’s a movement to decolonise education and shift global power dynamics. By showing that Africa can fit the US, China, India, and most of Europe within its borders, the ‘Correct the Map’ campaign challenges the narrative of African marginality.
