India is set to significantly strengthen its naval capabilities with the upcoming induction of INS Aridhaman, its third indigenously built nuclear-powered submarine. Announced during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Visakhapatnam, the submarine has completed final sea trials and is expected to join the Strategic Forces Command soon. Equipped with advanced stealth features and powered by an 83 MW nuclear reactor, it can remain submerged for extended periods. With the ability to carry long-range K-4 and K-15 missiles, INS Aridhaman will enhance India’s sea-based nuclear deterrence and strategic strike capability.
