India and Mongolia share a long-standing strategic partnership rooted in a common Buddhist heritage, democratic values and strong people-to-people ties. One of the most significant symbols of this partnership is Mongolia's first large-scale oil refinery being constructed with Indian assistance in Dornogovi Province.

The refinery, valued at nearly $1.7 billion, is expected to process 1.5 million tonnes of crude oil annually, producing gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel and LPG. The project aims to reduce Mongolia's dependence on imported fuel and strengthen its energy security.

Beyond energy cooperation, India is supporting Mongolia through educational institutions, technology centers, capacity-building initiatives and community development projects. These efforts continue to strengthen the India-Mongolia Strategic Partnership while creating new opportunities for future generations.
