U.S. President Donald Trump explained the reasoning behind the newly renovated White House Rose Garden, saying the area previously covered in grass was often too wet to walk on.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said the space where people now stand or sit is covered with white stone because the lawn used to remain soaked due to the garden being built on wetland.
“Where you’re standing, or sitting right now, is white stone, and that was grass. The problem with it is you couldn’t walk on it, because this is built on a wetland. The grass was always soaking wet,” Trump said.

The Rose Garden is one of the most iconic locations at the White House and is frequently used for presidential speeches, press briefings, and official ceremonies.
