Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, reaffirming Canada's support for Ukraine and announcing new sanctions against Russia.

Carney condemned Russia's latest attacks on Kyiv, including damage to the historic Kyiv Pechersk Lavra monastery, and praised the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people. He declared that Ukraine would ultimately win the war, arguing that the outcome was no longer in doubt.

During the meeting, Canada announced additional sanctions targeting more than 160 entities linked to Russia's economy and shadow fleet. Carney also confirmed continued military assistance, including air-defense support, drone cooperation, energy assistance, and reconstruction funding.

Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its unwavering support and said G7 leaders broadly agreed that Russia is not winning the war. The Ukrainian president also highlighted discussions on increasing Patriot missile supplies, expanding air-defense capabilities, and boosting joint military drone production.

The meeting comes as G7 leaders seek to maintain pressure on Moscow while strengthening support for Kyiv amid ongoing fighting and renewed diplomatic efforts.
