During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiled approximately $900 million in new military assistance.

The package includes vehicles, munitions and vital air defence systems aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defence over the coming months. The two leaders also discussed energy security ahead of winter, with plans to cooperate on projects involving Ukraine's state energy company, Naftogaz.

Carney reaffirmed Canada's long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine's defence, reconstruction and economic recovery, while Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its continued backing as the war with Russia continues.
