A dramatic eyewitness video shows a waterspout turning into a tornado that caused damage in Atlantic Beach, New York, on Thursday, August 20. The National Weather Service confirmed that the waterspout came ashore as a tornado on the far west end of Atlantic Beach during severe storms that swept across Long Island. More than 30 cabanas were damaged or destroyed at the Sun and Surf Beach Club, while debris was scattered across the area. Nassau County declared a state of emergency following the storm. The video was credited to @docdondon on Instagram.
