In last week’s episode, we had to make a tough call: we demolished the very first roof we ever built on our homestead. It served us well, but to create the permanent outdoor kitchen and lounge we’ve been dreaming of, we needed a fresh start. We spent days carefully stripping away the bamboo roofing and lowering those massive 6-meter beams to clear the way for something bigger, better, and completely waterproof.

In this episode, we’re moving from deconstruction to creation! We are officially "rookie builders" tackling a massive DIY project. With a "figure it out as we go" mindset and a whole lot of determination, we’re back on the ladders to install 6-meter gum poles and secure our new zinc metal roofing sheets.

Working at these heights isn't for the faint of heart—especially when handling heavy, razor-sharp zinc sheets in the wind! We’re documenting every step, every debate over measurements, and every hurdle we face as a team. Watching the structure take shape and finally seeing the light hit that new roof makes every second of the hard work worth it.

What’s next? Phase one is officially complete! We’ve got a dry, shaded space, but the kitchen is still in the works. Next week, we’re moving on to the next big challenge: building a massive wooden deck to finish off our outdoor living space.
