Japan is on high alert as Typhoon Jangmi approaches the country’s southern and central regions, bringing the threat of heavy rainfall, powerful winds, flooding, and landslides. The storm has already reached Okinawa and is expected to move toward the Amami region and Kyushu before tracking further across western and eastern Japan. Authorities have issued warnings and urged residents to prepare for possible disruptions. Naha Airport in Okinawa has suspended operations, while major carriers, including Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, have cancelled several flights. Some areas could receive more than 300 millimetres of rainfall, raising concerns over flash flooding and landslides.
